ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - About a thousand Pirates fans watched the game at PNG Field in Altoona.

John Shields is a Pirate fan who remembers the last time the Buccos made it to the postseason. He wouldn’t miss the game, and was excited to watch the game where the Curve plays.

Rob Egan and the Curve staff wanted to enjoy the Pirates first trip to the playoff in more than 20 years with every citizen of Curve PA. They sold pirates post season gear. And fans raised money for charity by paying to sign a banner. And it was fun to see the faces of Curve players on the jumbo screen again, this time playing for the Pirates.

The stands were full of black and gold, but little Ryen Webster proudly wore Cardinal red. His brother Kody was rooting for the home team. But they did agree that watching the big game on the big screen was “pretty cool”.

And Friday night you can catch Game two playing at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. It's free and the game starts at 1:00.
