ALTOONA - Two men are behind bars following a late-night nightclub shooting.

Police arrested Hugo Baez, 20, and Brandon Midder, 24, early Friday morning.

Baez is accused of shooting Willie Solomon, 22, several times with a handgun Thursday shortly after 11:30 p.m. inside Choices Nightclub.

The bar is located at 130 East 6th Avenue in Altoona.

Solomon, who is originally from New Jersey, died at the scene.

"We have the cops here probably every weekend, yeah, it's just nothing new here," said one man, who didn't want to be identified.

"The patrons come out in the parking lot, they're hoopin' and yellin' and raising all kind of hell. And no one really does nothin' about it," said another man, who also did not want to be identified.

Altoona Police tracked down Baez just hours after the incident.

State Troopers arrested him after pulling over Midder's car at a convenience store in Alexandria, Huntingdon County. Baez, who is originally from New York, was a passenger.

Police said they recovered a gun, but haven't yet said whether it was the murder weapon.

Investigators said they have surveillance video from Choices that shows Baez and Solomon getting into an argument.

"A third male subsequently intervenes and attempts to step in physically, and then at least two persons produce guns and then you have the shooting itself," said Altoona Police Lt. Jeffrey Pratt.

Only one gun was fired.

Police are working on determining a motive.

Baez faces criminal homicide charges and is in the Blair County Prison.

Midder faces charges of illegally possessing a gun and is also being held in the Blair County Prison. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 6.
