Update: Police-Involved Shooting

ALTOONA- State Police say one man was shot by Altoona Police after he threatened them with a knife.

Police were called to home along the 1600 block of 16th Street last night around 11:00pm. Police say a man was threatening to kill himself and used a butcher knife to cut himself.

According State Police the man refused to put down the knife, and then came towards the officers. One officer opened fire and shot the man. Police then tackled him to the ground and wrestled the knife away. The man was taken to UPMC Altoona and his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

No officers were injured in the exchange. Altoona Police and State Police are continuing to investigate.
