BROCKWAY, JEFFERSON COUNTY - State Police tell WTAJ News they have what was an overnight "active shooter" situation now under control.

The person believed to be involved is no longer inside the home, but police haven't said yet what happened to that person, whose identity has not been released.

State Police plan to hold a news conference at 10:30 a.m. at the DuBois barracks to give us the names of the suspect and the trooper who was shot.

Most of the troopers outside of the house at 1881 Cemetery Road in Brockway, Jefferson County have cleared the scene. However, a few remain as the investigation is ongoing.

Pictures from WTAJ News Reporter Leah Kirstein this morning show bullet holes and shattered windows at the home.

The standoff began Thursday afternoon around 2:30 after a state trooper went to serve a warrant. Someone inside fired several shots through the front door, hitting the trooper in the neck. He was pulled to safety by a fellow officer.

As of early this morning, the trooper who was shot was in stable, but very critical, condition at a Pittsburgh hospital, according to State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens.

Investigators have not yet said how the standoff ended earlier this morning, or what happened to the person believed to have fired the shots from inside. They have also not identified that suspect.

However, WTAJ News received a phone call Thursday night from Nancy Sippel. She told us her brother, Kenneth Lees, Sr., owns that home and she pleaded with police to spare her brother's life. Sippel lives out-of-state, but said she knew he was upset about a situation involving his son, Kenneth Lees, Jr.

Again, police have not confirmed whether Lees, Sr. was involved in the shooting and standoff.

We will keep you updated as information becomes available.
