Two Struck, Killed on I-80

PORTER TOWNSHIP, CLINTON COUNTY - Two men were killed early Thursday after they were struck by a vehicle on I-80 near Lamar.

According to State Police and the Clinton County Coroner, the men were hit shortly before 3 a.m. near Exit 173 by a 2003 Freightliner being driven by 41-year-old Carlos Freitas-Diaz of Arlington, N.J.. Police say he was driving 60-65 mph at the time of the incident.

Both 29-year-old David Flores and Jesus Chazea Jr. of Baltimore were pronounced dead at the scene. Chazea’s age has not been released. The cause of death has been ruled as Blunt Force Trauma.

State Police are continuing their investigation.
