BELEFONTE, CENTRE COUNTY – Centre County Commissioners announced they received only two bids for construction on the rear courthouse annex and Temple Court building.

Leonard S, Fiore, Inc. of Altoona submitted a $1.8 million bid, while GM McRossin of Bellefonte said the project could be done for $1.4 million.

Commissioners said they were surprised at the low number of bids and high cost of construction.

“I am surprised there were only two bids, but I think that speaks to the economy rebounding, people are out there, there is plenty of work and people are busy, so it was surprising that there were two bids,” said Centre County Commissioner Chris Exarchos. “I would have hoped that we had a few more bids, but I'm happy to at least have two.”

Commissioners will announce the decision of who gets the contract at the meeting the week of July 14th.
