BETHLEHEM, LEHIGH COUNTY – A report released by AAA says they anticipate a slight decrease in the amount of people hitting the road for the Thanksgiving holiday.

The report says AAA is expecting a 2.4 percent decrease in travel, with 4.7 million people expected to hit the road.

AAA says the economy may be one of the reasons people are choosing to not travel as far for Thanksgiving.

“Sometimes people choose between Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday so if they are conserving a little bit and will travel for Christmas, but it's just a slight percentage that Thanksgiving is down this year,” said Gigi Campbell with AAA East Central.

AAA also says it’s a good year for travelers. Air fares are down 1 percent from last year and gas prices are at the lowest they’ve been all year.
