WASHINGTON, D.C – U.S. Representative Glenn Thompson (R – 5th District) announced Monday a State College High graduate will attend the U.S. Naval Academy.

Caitlin McGlaughlin of State College has accepted a Fully Qualified Appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy. She had a GPA of 4.6 at State College Area High School and was in the top ten percent of the graduating class of 2014.

McGlaughlin made the High Honor Roll all four years at SCAHS, and was active in athletics throughout high school. She served as captain for the varsity tennis team her junior and senior years and captain of the lacrosse team in 2014.

In a statement Rep. Thompson said, “Caitlin’s appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy comes as no surprise, she has had an impressive academic career, as well as a clear dedication to public service. I am proud to have supported her nomination. I wish Caitlin the best in joining our proud men and women who selflessly serve in our nation’s military.”

McGlaughlin has been active in the community for years with groups like the State College Food Bank, State College Toys for Tots, and Little Lion Ambassadors.

McGlaughlin’s maternal and paternal grandparents reside in Central Pennsylvania.
