Tipton, Blair County, Pa. - In Blair County, a group of runners are doing their part to give back to the community.
The Food Bank Fun Run has been around for nearly a decade.
Bill Harshman has been organizing the food bank fun run for the past 9 years.
"We started with six people nine years ago just by word of mouth and each year by word of mouth we've increased to 60, 70 people or so," he explained.
His goal: To fill two pick ups full of food for the Northern Blair Food Bank in Tyrone.
"They serve about 400 people so it's an opportunity where we say lets have some fun. It's not a race with prizes no entry fee folks out of the goodness of their hearts bring food for the food bank."
There's no set course either. It's all about just coming together.
"It's really anything anyone wants to do," said Dave Fusco. "They can go up and do one mile if they want, they can walk they can run. Some people will go up and do a turn around and do a four mile and some people will just keep going."
Dave Fusco has been part of the run the past nine years.
He says people come no matter what.
"They come out in any weather. In fact this morning it was pouring down rain and we were all saying we're stilling having it ,everyone shows up and you can see there are still a lot of people up here today."
Harshman says he hopes others are inspired to do something like this in their community.
"The food bank is in great need no matter what time of the year. Being that it's getting close to thanksgiving this is an opportunity to really help them and we can give thanks."
