Residents concerned over possibility of losing State Police Barracks

Philipsburg, Centre County, Pa. - Residents in Centre County are preparing to host a meeting over concerns of losing their local state police barracks.

A study was done looking into the possibility of consolidating state police barracks to help save money, but no official decision has been made.

For Centre county, this would leave Philipsburg to consolidate with Rockview barracks. The Troopers in Philipsburg would be relocated more than a half an hour away, which residents say is cause for concern. The Philipsburg area removed their local police over a decade ago, and rely solely on the protection of state police.

Organizer of the meeting, Nancy Snyder says this is not a political stance or a protest. The residents just want answers over their concerns.

The meeting will be held April 6th at 7 p.m. in the Rush Township Municipal Center.
