HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY -- The retired Coast Guard captain from Bedford County is challenging 6-term incumbent Bill Shuster in the 9th Congressional district primary.

With a military career in leadership roles post 9/11 and his commercial real estate business, Halvorson says his top priority will be to bring jobs here.

As Halvorson states, "Jobs are being lost overseas. They're being lost period, because there's such a flat line economy nationally and it affects us here. We are loaded with natural resources. We're loaded with hard-working people who want to produce and yet the policies coming out of Washington are preventing that from happening."

Travis Schooley, a Franklin County businessman and Army veteran is also running on the Republican ticket.
