ALTOONA – Representative Glenn Thompson (R – 5th District) said Wednesday he is disappointed in the lack of care servicemen and women are receiving since the VA scandal broke.

Thompson said the problems in many of the VA hospitals, like in Phoenix where the scandal broke, are due to their size. He said our areas VA hospitals don’t face those difficulties.

“Altoona, Erie VA, those are good facilities they really haven't had any problems,” said Thompson. “The thing is I think they're small enough, they know their vets, they know their vet's families and we can take great quality in they strive to provide.”

Rep. Thompson is encouraging all newly returning veterans to sign up for benefits with the VA as soon as they come home.
