HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - Data collectors should be hitting the streets in about two weeks in Blair County. 28 local people have been hired and are currently being trained to start collecting that information.
Evaluator Services and Technology from Greensburg is handling the reassessment for the county. On Tuesday, their president put to rest some rumors that had been raising concerns for some people in the county. Data collectors will not be entering any homes in the area and all of the workers will be wearing an official vest and have a county-issued ID. If you're not home when the collectors arrive, a packet will be dropped off at your door to be filled out and returned. County Commissioner Diane Meling says the process will take about a year and half to complete, and added it's beneficial to have people from this area handling the collections.
“We have trained, local people who are going to be doing this data collection so we feel we have some local flavor to this project. It's not just like people coming in from the outside who don't know the area,” Blair County Commissioner Diane Meling says.
Officials plan to hold a public meeting to discuss more issues surrounding the reassessment, that will be June 10th at 7:00 at the Blair County Convention Center.
