FRANKSTOWN TOWNSHIP, BLAIR COUNTY – Police search the Blair County woods for a possibly armed man for most of the day.

It started around noon Thursday in Frankstown Township, Blair County. Police were concentrating their search in the woods near the Hollidaysburg Sportsmen’s Club.

Family members were worried that man had a gun and might hurt himself. State Police brought in the Special Emergency Response Team with some heavy equipment. And neighbors heard people calling out into the woods for the man to turn himself in.

Police shut down three roads in that area including East Loop from Lock Mountain to Sand Bank Road. And people that live in the area weren't allowed back to their homes.

The Geeseytown Fire Hall opened their doors and fed everyone who couldn’t get home. Neighbors who had to stay there said they weren’t used to anything like this, and they hoped it would end without anyone getting hurt.

State Police don't think he will hurt anyone but himself but they’re telling everyone to be careful and not open their doors to anyone until the search is over.
