ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - An Altoona police officer finds himself on the other side of the law. But his lawyer says he'll be proven innocent.

Altoona Police Officer Matthew Plummer is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Plummer was charged with beating-up a man about two weeks ago after a concert near Pittsburgh. He said the man threw a bottle at the bus he was in and was getting aggressive with the bus driver. Plummer says the man took a swing at him so he hit back.

Plummer is due in court Monday for a preliminary hearing on an Aggravated Assault charge. His lawyer hopes that charge will be dropped because he says his client was only acting in self-defense.

Plummer was put on desk duty during the investigation.
