Quirk says your best chance to grab some championship gear is this weekend, since you don't need a ticket, "this opening is really to give people a chance to kind of come out and get a feel for the event, kind of shop without the rush of heading out to the course," said Quirk, "no ticket necessary, so if anyone doesn't have a ticket it's a great time for them to come out and still be able to purchase something that they wouldn't be able to next week."
At almost $300 a PGA Championship jacket is one of the most expensive pieces of clothing. Artwork will have price tags in the thousands, but you don't have to break the bank to get a piece of the action, "we do have items for as little as three dollars, little bags with label tees, we have ball markers, things like that," explained Quirk, "we try to make sure all our prices are very reasonable for our customers that come in."
The clothes the players wear on the golf course are big sellers, "a lot of people come in and I think they just kind of get engulfed of the feeling of wanting to be like the player, and it does well," said Quirk, "the only problem that we ever run into is, if for some reason, they miss the cut."
The shop will be open to everyone, not just people who have tickets to the championship. It will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
There will be no public parking at Oak Hill Country Club for the opening of the merchandise tent. Parking will be available at Nazareth College with free shuttles running non stop while the shop is open.
The Wanamaker Trophy will be at the shop, Saturday, for pictures.
