Pens Offer to Host Next NHL Draft

PITTSBURGH, ALLEGHENY COUNTY - Hockey's future stars could find out in Pittsburgh where they'll start their pro careers.

Penguins' Vice President Tom McMillan said Tuesday the team has offered to host the 2012 NHL Draft at the Consol Energy Center.

The arena opened last year and the Pens completed their first season in their new home earlier this year.

The draft is held in late June over a two-day span.

Last month, the league held the 2011 festivities in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Pittsburgh hosted the draft in 1997 at Mellon Arena.
