Hollidaysburg native Sam Lafferty was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 4th round of the NHL Draft on Saturday.

The forward attended Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts last year, where he had 21 goals and 34 assists in 25 games.

Lafferty has played for the Hollidaysburg club hockey team in the past.

The Hollidaysburg native helped the Mid-State Mustangs U-18 team to a National Championship a few months ago, where he was named the tournament MVP (11 goals in the national tournament).

Lafferty will play for the Tri-City USHL team before playing collegiate hockey for Brown in 2015-2016.
