NHL returns to Pegula Ice Arena

University Park, Centre County, Pa. - Get ready hockey fans because once again the National Hockey League will be coming to the Pegula Ice Arena in Centre County.

For the second year in a row, Penn State and the Pegula Ice Arena will host a pre-season NHL game.

The Buffalo Sabers will also be returning with reigning two-time Stanley Cup champions Pittsburgh Penguins.

The big announcement has many fans in Hockey Valley pumped for the match-up.

"I'm really excited. I like going to the hockey games here where the college students are playing. So, it's going to be cool to see someone like Sidney Crosby or Jack Eichel playing at Pegula," Penn State student Erika Christiansen said.

The Pens and Sabers go head-to-head on Tuesday, September 19, and Penn State student Danielle Lee said she wont be missing the puck drop.

"Oh, I'm definitely going. I got to see some Sidney Crosby," Lee said.

Last year, the Sabers battled it out with the Minnesota Wild in a thrilling 2-1 game.

While neither Danielle or Erika made it to last years face-off, they both agree it's a great opportunity for students and hockey fans.

"I know Penn State has its own culture and everything and everybody loves Penn State sports, but its also nice to kind of get the National Hockey League in here and kinda bring the Penguins in, so that people have more to do than just go to a Penn State hockey game," Lee said.
