According to Jim Edwards, vice president of the Bedford County Fair, the sign was added this year in addition to a policy which has been in place for years.
“We’ve never had a problem with it,” said Edwards in a live interview Thursday. “Every once in a while you’d see a gentleman drive through with a deer rifle hanging in the back of his truck and he’d forget about it. We say ‘Would you please put it in the office, lock it up?” and they’ve worked very well with us.”
Edwards said the no weapons policy is listed in the fair’s premium book.
