EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY - An area Sheetz is one step closer to relocating to a bigger site, but not everyone is happy about it.

Several people came to the Ebensburg Zoning Meeting Wednesday night. Some were concerned about what a new Sheetz next to them would do to their traffic or property values. Others were concerned that the new Sheetz will force their business to relocate.

Sheetz came to ask for seven variances to build their new store closer to down town on west high street. They want to build a new Sheetz on the Falchini property and they needed permission to be a little bigger than zoning permits, have extra parking spaces and a few other things.

Dave Hazelet says their current store is over 30 years and they have nowhere to expand so they need to move to a bigger site.

Zoning Board Chairman Barry Templeton said they approved all seven variances because they were reasonable requests and he thinks the community needs the bigger store.

The crowd was told the meeting was only for the specific issues at hand. And if they had other concerns they would have to bring them up to the planning commission or borough council.

The next Borough Council meeting is April 28th and the Planning Commission meets the first Thursday of month.
