DUBOIS, CLEARFIELD COUNTY -- A free gym is being built for kids under 18 and law enforcement officials.

The Western Pennsylvania Police Academic League is building their newest gym in Dubois.

The gym will be located on West Long Avenue and serve as a way to combat crime in the area.

WPAL organizers say this will come at little to no cost to tax payers since it runs on donations, and will affect the area in a positive way.

Aaron Beatty with WPAL says, "It's for the kids. The model for the WPAL which stands for western PA police athletic league is always for the kids and another one of their mottos is it's easier better to build youth then to mend adults"

They plan to open March 1, 2014. Police and kids from all over the region are allowed to take part.
