Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa. - A new call center in Johnstown will put more than 250 people to work by the end of the summer.
The company, Convergys, is opening up a technology support center on Lyter Drive in Westmont Borough.
The full-time jobs will pay $12.75 per hour. Convergys will also hire up to 30 other management and maintenance staff.
"That's just talent, not including leaders, managers, site directors, recruiting, human resources, everything else," said Ken Cantin, the area manager of talent acquisition for Convergys.
The company chose Johnstown after considering multiple locations.
"It's a beautiful area. The people are great. There's a need for these jobs here. Convergys is here. We're here for this community for the long-haul. We're not going anywhere. Once we set up a site in a location, that site's usually there to stay," Cantin said.
High school student Jordan Kocsis said he's glad the company is creating jobs in the area.
"I think it will be good for the community bring in new jobs for the people of this town. I think it will maybe attract more people to move here and get some better people here," said Jordan Kocsis, a Richland Twp. resident.
The 16-year-old has to wait a couple more years until he gets his high school diploma before he can submit a job application.
"I have to check it out when I graduate," Kocsis said.
Convergys is holding its first job fair on Saturday, July 8th from 9am-3pm at the Pasquerilla Conference Center in Johnstown.
They'll hold job fairs every Wednesday until the call center officially opens on August 2.
