JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- An elderly woman caught on fire was rescued by her neighbors and the entire thing was captured on camera.

Mary Homan is in a Pittsburgh burn center recovering after her home caught fire Friday morning.

Firefighters were called to Bheam Avenue at the intersection of H Street in Johnstown’s West End neighborhood.  It was around 7:30 in the morning when Homan was in her kitchen when the fire started; she caught fire and ran through her home and outside.  Neighbors from across the street ran to her aid, throwing snow on her trying to put the fire out.  The entire incident was caught on camera by a neighbor’s security system.

“The call originated as a person on fire,” said Johnstown Fire Chief Anthony Kovacic.  “When we responded the call this morning it was quickly upgraded to a house fire with an injured person.”

The fire was ruled accidental.
