WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Navy released a statement Thursday saying the guided missile destroyer USS Truxtun is heading to the Black Sea.

According to the statement, the ship left a Greek port to conduct training operations with Romanian and Bulgarian forces.

The release made no mention of the tensions in Ukraine, which borders the Black Sea to the north. The Navy says the crew on the USS Truxton will engage in "previously planned" training exercises "with allies and partners in the region."
