DAYTONA BEACH, FLORIDA – The woman who drove her minivan into the Atlantic Ocean Tuesday with her three children inside has been charged with three counts of attempted murder.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office took 32-year-old Ebony Wilkerson of South Carolina into custody Friday on three counts of premeditated attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated child abuse.

Her children – ages 3, 9 and 10 – were not seriously injured when she drove her minivan into the ocean Tuesday. All three were placed in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Volusia County Sheriff Ben Johnson told CBS affiliate WKMG she was fighting with her son over control of the vehicle and tried to keep rescuers from pulling her children from the minivan.

Wilkerson, who is 27 weeks pregnant, has denied trying to harm her children. She is in the Volusia County Jail and being held on no bond.
