WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Caremark will no longer carry tobacco products in their more than 7,600 stores across the country, more than three weeks before their targeted date to remove the products.

In addition to the move, the Rhode Island-headquartered company will have a new name of CVS Health. Retail stores will still be called CVS Pharmacy.

The company estimates the move could cost the chain about $2 billion in annual sales. Their annual revenue in 2013 was $126 billion.

The company previously planned to remove tobacco products from their stores on October 1st.
