PHILIPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY – Relay for Life is going on in our area from 8am Saturday until 8pm Sunday to celebrate cancer survivors.
Dozens are walking at the Geisinger Medical Group parking lot. WTAJ’s Charlotte Ames was out helping with the efforts as well. Relay organizers and volunteers spent 10 months getting ready for today.
This relay is hoping to raise $82,000, and one local elementary school helped with fundraising quite a bit.
"We raised over $2,200 this year just collecting change and selling t-shirts at school,” said Jamie Wagner, a teacher at Moshannon Valley Elementary and chairwoman for Relay for Life.
“So then once we get here we do basket raffles and things like that so we usually raise $5000 as a team.”
Everyone in the community is welcome to donate to the cause by stopping by the event or mailing the Clearfield American Cancer Society.
