BOALSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY – State College Police are investigating the damage done to more than 50 headstones at the Boalsburg Cemetery.

Police received the report late Sunday morning that at least 51 burial lot headstones were pulled out of the ground, knocked over or otherwise damaged. The damage appears to be random with some of the headstones dating back to the 1800s.

Police say the majority of the damage occurred to headstones located behind Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of Church Street and Old Boalsburg Road. A ground-mounted spotlight at Saint John’s United Church of Christ across the street was also discovered damaged.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the State College Police Department at 814-234-7150. SCPD is offering up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
