SAINT MARYS, ELK COUNTY - One person is dead and another injured after flames rip through a local home overnight.

State Police say it started around 3:00 Saturday morning at a home along the 500 block of Brusselles Street in St. Marys. The road was closed for hours as crews battled the blaze.

Fire fighters are still trying to figure out just how this tragedy started but one man is dead and a woman is in the hospital.

Fire fighters know it started on the first floor, they just don't know how it started yet.

James Robbins, 77, old died in the fire. His wife Joan Robbins was taken to the hospital. She was outside when emergency officials got on scene. But James Robbins was trapped on the second floor. Fire fighters say they had trouble even getting close to the home.

The State Police Fire Marshal is investigating that killed one man and destroyed the home.
