ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY – Board members and contributors for Big Brothers and Big Sisters gathered at Baker Mansion in Altoona Thursday evening to mark 50 years.

The event Thursday was to mark a year of events honoring their 50th anniversary. Volunteers say making a difference in a young person’s life by mentoring can have lasting effects.

“It’s very, very rewarding we have people coming back all the time and expressing their gratitude and how much they really appreciate what the bigs have done for them over the years,” said Thomas Smith with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Blair County.

There are currently 80 matches in the Blair County Program and many other little brothers and sisters looking for their big match.
