"The patient was a male in his 20s,” said Tom Weyer, Deupty Chief of the Alexandria Fire Company. “For some unknown reason, he turned his motorcycle around and came back on the road, that's when he struck the other vehicle."
The man was traveling with another motorcycle at the time of the crash. Route 22 was closed for two hours, as State Police reconstructed the scene.
This is the second motorcycle accident in the past 24 hours in Huntingdon County. With the weather getting warmer, emergency responders are reminding both drivers and motorcyclists to be mindful of their surroundings, and share the road.
"It’s a nice day to be on a motorcycle, so keep an eye out for them,” said Weyer. “They can easily be missed because they're a lot smaller than a van or car or something like that.
“It's not just the people in the vehicles; the bikers have to do their part also."
The driver of the van was taken to the hospital for precautionary measures. No word tonight, on their condition.
