Local police officers meet with kids over ice cream

Duncansville, Blair County, Pa. - A group of kids in Blair County got to enjoy some ice cream cones while meeting police officers Saturday.

It's all part of the second annual "Kids, Cops & Cones" event in Duncansville.

Kids got to touch police gear and talk with the officers about how they do their jobs.

We talked to Blair County Sheriff James Ott, who told us that it's all about making sure kids feel comfortable with the people who protect them.

"It's great to have children walk up to us and want to know about us and know that we're on a very comfortable level where we can speak to each other," Sheriff Ott told us. "They're not nervous with us and that's what this is all about."

Sheriff Ott also told us that these types of events can help foster a positive relationship between children and law enforcement for the rest of their lives.
