Local head start celebrating milestone

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. - The Blair County Head Start celebrated its 52nd birthday with the help of several community leaders.

They read to kids at head start centers across Blair County. The event was part of the National Head Start Association's Community Reading Day, to raise awareness of the importance of head start.

"We've seen such amazing progress in the children that we serve, as far as being ready for school, ready for life --to become successful citizens of the county," Executive Director of Child Advocates Terry Wasovich said.

The Blair County Head Start serves 514 children and their families across 11 centers county-wide.
