PHILIPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY - A local girl who is beating cancer thanks to an experimental treatment will be on the national stage to continue her fight.

Emily Whitehead from Philipsburg will be flying out early Wednesday morning. She'll take center stage at Stand Up To Cancer this Friday.

Emily enjoys playing the piano and her role as a cancer research advocate. An experimental treatment has helped her be cancer-free for more than two years. Now she goes around the country inspiring people with her success story.  She's packing her bag and has her Blue and White dress picked out. Her whole family will be walking the red carpet this Friday.

Stand Up To Cancer already donated 14 million dollars to the program that saved Emily’s life. Now doctors are continuing immunotherapy treatments to fight cancer in other patients.

And Tom Whitehead is asking people to help fund cancer research this Friday, in Emily’s name.

You can watch the Stand Up To Cancer event this Friday on WTAJ.
