Keara Sweeney has been dancing since she was 2 years old.
"24/7 right after school I eat, sleep, everything dance - I couldn't live my life without it honestly," said Sweeney.
Three years ago she auditioned with the famous Abby Lee Dance Studio in Pittsburgh. The studio has become an overnight sensation due to it hits show on LifeTime, “Dance Mom’s.” However the studio has always been known to dominate dance competitions across the country. That’s one of the reason’s Sweeney was attracted to the school because of the competitions.
In just three years the technique she’s learned from the studio has brought her to the forefront. Although, Sweeney is not on the reality show, she is good friends with the girls on it and competes with them regularly across the country and has been asked to be on it.
“The fame part is cool, but the overall picture it would be a little hard,” said Sweeney.
At 13 she has 66,000 Instagram followers and competes with the Senior Company at the studio, girls who are seniors in high school. Sweeney went to Las Vegas with the girls on the show in July and beat them in the competition.
“I was in shock,” said Sweeney. “I couldn’t believe I beat someone who is known all over the world for dancing.”
Sweeney is featured in dance magazines, won dozens of scholarships, and travels the country competing with her celebrity friends but it’s never changed who she is.
“It shows hard work paid off,” said Sweeney. “I never imagined I would be here—but I am.”
The Central Cambria student is also an honor student she says she dreams of making it to Broadway someday.
