The Bellefonte Borough Council will propose changes to their solicitation ordinance at their next meeting.
Borough Manager, Ralph Stewart, says several residents in the area have complained about vendors soliciting products to them this summer.
He says the change will create a "Do Not Disturb" list. Any resident can sign up for it. The list will then be given out to any company that applies for a solicitation permit in the borough.
The language of the ordinance will also be amended to make it more clear. Stewart says any violators will be charged to the fullest extent and could even lose their license.
Stewart says these changes will not violate anyone's constitutional rights, but has come up because of complaints from residents.
He expects the ordinance change to be voted on at the next meeting and will likely take effect at the beginning of next year.
