Kids Piano Camp

Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa - "Piano for Pleasure" is a summer camp held at the Bottleworks in Cambria City.

This week, Laura Williamson is teaching five and six-year-olds all the right notes.  Williamson started offering piano classes to adults, but three years ago decided to open a summer camp for children.

She said teaching these kids how to read music and play instruments helps with more than just booster their self-esteem.

"All the learning benefits are well-documented. There is math,' said Williamson. "It helps with fine motor skills because you have to manipulate your fingers, follow instructions, and a sense of accomplishment. Look at what I did!"

The summer camps run through Labor Day.

Bottleworks offers scholarships to students who want to pursue music or other art classes but might not be able to afford it.
