UPDATE: 7-year-old Josh Hardy has been released from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

His mother posted a picture of him being released on the Savejosh Facebook Page.

Josh had been battling a deadly virus he contracted after a bone marrow transplant back in January.

The medicine he needed to treat the virus hadn't been approved by the FDA.

After a major social media campaign, the drug company Chimerex issued Josh what doctors called a life-saving medication.

Josh has family in the Centre County area of our region.
