PENN STATE, UNIVERSITY PARK - You've heard of "Dominate the State". Well Tuesday, it's James Franklin's chance to "Dominate the State of the Union."

Congressman Glenn Thompson invited Coach Franklin to be his guest Tuesday at the State of the Union address in Washington.

Coach Franklin says he's excited for the opportunity and says Tuesday night, he's got one thing on his mind.

"I'm going to try to get the President and the First Lady to a game next year is my goal," Coach Franklin said. "I don't know if I have any chances of that whatsoever, but that's what I'd like to do."

It's the chance of a lifetime for Coach James Franklin.

"I actually got invited last year and wasn't able to go because of recruiting and things like that, but I just felt like this is a once in a lifetime experience and I better take advantage of it," he said.

It's a chance he's thanking Representative Glenn Thompson for.

"Quite frankly, given the spirit of optimism and possibilities, I'm very honored that Coach James Franklin, who is Penn State's 16th Head Coach, has accepted my invitation tonight as my guest," Thompson said.

Thompson says the choice was easy.

"I think that reflects, with the new coach coming in, which is really all about the future, is the spirit which we'll gather in the House of Chamber tonight to hear what the President has to say," he said.

Franklin says he'll take any chance to step up for Penn State, even if it means no sleep.

"Yeah, there hasn't been a whole lot of sleep, but sleep is overrated," he said. "We have a lot going on right now in recruiting. We're trying to put two weeks of recruiting and really trying to do what takes a year or two, so it's been a scramble flying to California afterward. I think it's great whenever we can get out in the public and represent Penn State."

Coach Franklin was in Massachusetts and New Jersey Monday, flew back to State College Tuesday morning and took off for D.C. Tuesday afternoon.
