ALTOONA - Police say they found hundreds of cockroaches and were overpowered by the smell of urine inside a home at 411 22nd Street in Altoona.

The woman who lived in that home with her 5 children, Jennina R. Pratt was arrested Thursday and is facing charges of endangering the welfare of children as a result of the conditions police found inside.

According to police, some of the children had bite marks on their legs and were seen sitting on the floor with cockroaches moving about.

Pratt is currently in jail and is slated for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Altoona police tell WTAJ it's one of the most unsanitary homes they've ever seen.

Police also found an emaciated dog outside the house.
