Hundreds bike at annual Freedom Ride

Tyrone, Blair County, Pa. - 500 bicyclists put on their patriotic gear Tuesday morning to raise money for local veterans.

It's called the Freedom Ride.

All of the proceeds go towards the James E. Van Zandt Medical Center in Altoona.

Folks as from as far as Miami were in Tyrone for the fun!

Organizers say they've grown in the past few years and hope to raise a record amount of money.

"Last year we were able to donate $25,000 and this year we havent discussed any figures on that but we should be able to hopefully eclipse the$25,000. So we have grown even more than we had last year," said Vice President of the ride, Patrick Thornton.

The Freedom Ride helped renovate a van to add more wheelchair accessible seating last year.

This year the funds will go to a miniature golf course at the VA.
