How safe is your hospital?

Two area hospitals get an "A" grade for patient safety from a national healthcare ratings organization.The Leapfrog Group judges hospitals on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections, and other harms.

Conemaugh Memorial in Johnstown and UPMC Bedford received the top grade of "A" for fall 2017.
Mt Nittany Medical Center and JC Blair Memorial Hospital each earned a "B". UPMC  Altoona and Penn Highlands DuBois rated a "C".

The Leapfrog Group says it uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D, and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S hospitals twice a year.
