ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Educators and police officers square off on the hardwood to honor Chris Amerine.

Amerine died suddenly on January 19th while playing basketball with a group of friends. And Thursday night his friends held a basketball game to raise money for his family.

On one side of the tip were Blair County Law Enforcement Officers and Altoona School District Employees were on the other. And in the crowd there were hundreds of shirts with Amerine’s name on them.

Amerine was an officer in the Tyrone Police Department and at the Altoona High School. His fellow officers gave Amerine's wife Autumn a poster of him they all signed. Their children were the honorary captains of the two basketball teams.

Autumn Amerine wants people to honor her husband just one more way, by doing what he did and doing something nice for a stranger every day.

The event raised about eight thousand dollars for the Amerine family.
