Heritage Days keeps Philipsburg's history alive

Philipsburg, Centre County, Pa. - Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Philipsburg community is no stranger to the Heritage Days festival.

"We're using Heritage Days...To be a vehicle to bring peoples awareness to various things that has happened in our community," Heritage Days Chairman Jim Pollock said.

New to the festival is 21 new vendors, with specialties ranging from making their own furniture to making homemade Root Beer.

"We're out of Atlanta Georgia, we make the Root Beer, we bring it up here and sell it all summer long," Wild Windy's Root Beer Bar Manager Jamie Davis said.

Davis said the Root Beer comes in a glass bottle and can be refilled for $3 at any location at any time.

The entire week kicked off Tuesday, but one thing that already has people excited is Saturday's parade that will be about two hours long.

At least five drum and bugle corps will be featured in the parade and will play a show after.

While there are new things every year, one thing about the community stays the same.

"The town is a prosperous town, things are growing. We're like most communities, you have set backs, but the unique thing about our community is we always fight back," Pollock said.

Officials haven't started planning for next year's event yet, but Pollock said he expects big things.

Heritage Hays officially ends with a car show on Sunday.
