CLEARFIELD COUNTY - Some organizations would not be able to exist without their volunteers.

The Clearfield Hospice says volunteers are there to be with patients during the end of their life. They provide joy and give caretakers a break. The hospice is in need of volunteers to meet with patients. They also need people who know how to sew to help make memory bears and blankets for guests.

It can be difficult getting close to someone who passes away. This is one reason it can be hard for the hospice to get volunteers.

Passages, Inc. an organization that provide free and private assistance to victims of sexual abuse says they are also in need of volunteers. Currently, between their 3 offices they are helping 500 people.

A volunteer is able to be a supporter for the victim when they feel alone.

If you are interested call 1-800-793-3620. A new training begins July 14.
