BROOKVILLE, JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Lumberjacks Youth Football Program maybe in jeopardy after someone stole nearly $25,000 worth of equipment from the organization. Police are still investigating that crime, but say during their investigation they discovered Shannon Wolfe, 38, allegedly stole more than $2,000 from the program while she served as Treasurer.

"It's concerning. This is the second time this organization has been victimized in the last 8 month’s" said Board Member Chad Weaver.

Wolfe waived her right to a preliminary hearing. He lawyer said, "she deeply regrets her actions that are not characteristic of who she is. She will do all she can to cooperate with law enforcement and the program to right any wrongdoing she may have done."

Charges will be bound for court. In the meantime, the program is trying to raise money.

"The biggest issue we are faced with is school usage fees" said Weaver.

The Lumberjacks are trying to work on a payment plan with the school.

"We hope that we can get back into good standing financially not only with the school but with our local venders who have been very forgiving and patient with us" said Weaver.

This is the only youth football program in Brookville.

“It means a lot especially with my kids because there's really not a lot to do in this area and it's something for them to do" said coach Andrew Smith.

He is planning a golf tournament for May 31 at the Hemlockview Golf Course near Punxsutawney. For more information call him at 952-6097.

The organization is also planning a spaghetti dinner.

It will be at the Heritage House on Saturday, April 5th, 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

It is $7 adults, $4 ages 5-12, and 4 and under are free.

Tickets will be available at the courthouse or by calling 590-2232.

A Chinese auction will also be held during the event.

If you are willing to volunteer with the event or make a donation they ask you to contact them.

They will also be having a gun raffle at a later date.
