PUNXSUTAWNEY, JEFFERSON COUNTY - This time of year, it's tradition for the Punxsutawney Fire Departments to hold a boot drive to raise funds for the local food banks and to put together food baskets for families in need.

This past Saturday, they anticipated beating last year's record of over $8,000, but the snow got in the way.

One department was advised by Penndot to not be out on the roads with their boots and they had to deal with crashes.

Sunday was a better day.

They say, even with the weather, they were able to raised $6,150.37! The money will be distributed to 8 local food pantries. They thank everyone who donated.
