At Sunshine Beach Colony Thursday, rescue crews from Bedford and Blair counties had to remove nearly a dozen people who were trapped inside their homes.
Friday, many of those residents did not return. Dave Layman, though, did. He was there for the flood, and wanted to assess some of the damage.
"Tomorrow morning I'm going to start cleaning up my debris,” said Layman. “I'm going to get the tractor out and start cleaning up. So hopefully by the end of the weekend I'll have it cleaned up. It's pretty tough when it's so muddy."
Layman said floods like this one happen at least once a year in their area.
