As part of the bill, the federal food stamps program is set to take an $8 billion cut over the next 10 years. This is the second time in six months the program has faced major cuts, and local food pantry's say those make an immediate impact on family’s right here in Central PA.
"We have actually had a number of new people and a number of people who came to us and had worked things out on their own coming back for assistance because every time there is a food cut it seems like prices go up," Michelle McGowan from American Rescue Workers says,
McGowan added the community help in Hollidaysburg has been great, but the trickle down effect of the cuts leads to a much bigger need for donations.
